THE SECOND COMING

Written by scuppernong at 19:02 13/6-2011

  WE ARE BACK

Following a period lasting four seasons outside of the top division, Team Scuppernong have returned. They have now acheived their first top division win at Morelia - Mexico City, since Holyhead TT in season 11.

The win came in Mexico courtesy of new English climbing sensation Curt Goodrich, 26, beating Fidel Aldama and Frank van Galen into second and third place respectively. This was only Goodrich's second result and undoubtly his finest, following a third place at the Porto GP.

Five seasons ago Truman Woodson came first in Holyhead TT, but since then Scuppernong dropped into division 3 before Joe rebuilt the squad and they have since climbed back up to the top division. The team is now on one of their best run's in history-in the four division 1 races they have entered they have had 2 fifth places, and second and a first.

Following the race Joe commented "This result has been a long time coming. I am so proud of the team that I sent out there today, they couldn't have done any better. After there was pressure on me to resign a couple of seasons ago, I hope I have proved all the team's critics wrong. We have invested a lot of money into Goodrich and he has rewarded us in the best way possible. A couple of the younger riders were dissapointed when we stopped their training for the intensive programme we arranged for Goodrich, but they are happier now, as we have more money avaiable to train these very good riders up."

The question still remains however, as to whether this was a fluke, or whether the team can follow it up with more results.
